Welcome 2013!!

christmas1

I hope you all had a happy holiday season! Ours was wonderful, busy, but wonderful. Seasons like these make me crave our routine.

I have been contemplating my goals for this year. One recurring theme seems to be routine. I am ready for a better daily routine, a regular cleaning routine, more routine family time, a crafting routine, I think you get it.

The last couple years I have read of New Year’s ‘words.’ The individual chooses a word to focus on for the year. This sounds much less intimidating than a resolution.

I have chosen a word. This word will be my focus for my time, my routine, how I use my resources.
My word is

DELIBERATE

Not a beautiful word, but a word that describes what I want to focus on this year. I want to be purposeful with my family, intentional with my time, slow to decide, and less uptight. I want to waste less. Waste less time. Waste less food. Waste less resources. I want to be deliberate.

Did you make resolutions, set goals, or choose a word for the new year? What are your tips for sticking to the plan?

  1. You summed up the way I feel perfectly: seasons like these totally make me crave our routine. I love the holidays and the beautiful, sweet chaos of it all, but oh man, I do miss our routine.

    Happy 2013!!

    1. The holidays are too busy for my liking. Our routine (although not as structured as I would like) tend to be my daily saving grace.

    1. Thank you so much. It seems to get more difficult as our family grows to get us all in the same photo. Everyone running in different directions.

  3. I saw your comment on a Little Tipsy's blog about 'Word of the Year' and a few weeks ago I too chose the word Deliberate. It isn't a very popular word but it means so much just like you described. I actually have been part of a mother's learning circle in my neighborhood in Salt Lake City that meets once a month to discuss articles from this book Deliberate Motherhood. You can see more here: http://powerofmoms.com/deliberate-motherhood/?tag=thpoofmo0fb-20 It has been so helpful and one of the reasons I chose that word to focus on. Good luck with your 'Deliberate' year.

    1. Thank you for visiting! Its only 21 days in, but I have noticed such a change by focusing on being deliberate. I need to check out the book you suggested. Sounds right up my alley.
